Anne Feeney

Choosing a therapist can be daunting, especially when you may be anxious and at a low ebb. If you’ve had no experience of working with one before it can be difficult to know who to choose. One of the most important things is to choose someone you feel comfortable with. Anne’s approach is to provide a safe and confidential space for reflection – by offering deep empathy, and by being a real and genuine person with you.

In a calm and non-judgemental environment, she can offer you the opportunity to talk about your problems or fears. You could feel there is no one to share these with or you may find it too difficult to talk to family and friends because you want to protect them or they may be too close to the problem.

Anne’s counselling approach is Integrative. Her core training is Person-Centred and as part of her professional development she has received training in a wide range of other approaches. She integrates elements of these when it is helpful for the client, for example, elements of Gestalt, CBT, Mindfulness and  Neuroscience.

Anne has experience of working with individuals around issues such as chronic anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, depression, bereavement, suicidal thoughts, cancer, trauma, family conflict, addiction, eating disorders, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME and self-harm.

Anne previously comes from a senior corporate background in global account management and engineering and has experience of counselling individuals with work related problems. She can offer support with issues such as:

  • stress and overwhelm
  • lack of work/life balance
  • lack of confidence
  • sleeplessness and exhaustion
  • addiction, for example, to alcohol, food, exercise or work
  • relationship conflict
  • being over reactive
  • feelings of dissatisfaction or pointlessness
  • isolation
  • managing work and life around a serious illness or a bereavement
  • feeling scapegoated
  • imposter syndrome
  • feeling different

She is a counsellor at a number of charities: previously at Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Service and Off the Record (age 11 to 24); and currently at the Mulberry Centre (Cancer related) and Kingston Women’s Centre.
